Chicken Fried Apples
Our local grocer has a fabulous selection of seasonal apples, so we decided to do tastings every week. This week, we tried the Ambrosia variety. I had been dying to fry some, so we finally did it. The experiment turned out to be an instant classic. We're going to have these as often as possible.
Here's how we made them:
We made some faux buttermilk with lemon juice and half and half and put the sliced and peeled apples in it. Then we dredged them in self-rising flour and fried them. We finished them with a mixture of granulated sugar, sea salt, and Ceylon cinnamon.
